Why I Joined Dyndrite – Michael Humphrey

Dyndrite software will be the catalyst for moving the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) industry to new levels of productivity and automation. I am humbled and thrilled to be part of this exciting advancement.

I joined Dyndrite because I truly believe that stale legacy software is holding back the productivity of LPBF operations and its progression into automated serial production. After doing in-depth research and talking with Dyndrite personnel I became convinced Dyndrite is the catalyst for moving the LPBF industry beyond these barriers. I look forward to being part of a quantum leap advancement in the state of the LPBF industry.

I was initially exposed to Dyndrite via a post on Linkedin which described an entirely different software approach for LPBF processes.  I was intrigued and started following the company. In December, Stephen Anderson contacted me and indicated that Dyndrite was looking for seasoned sales people - I was eager to explore the opportunity.  As I went through the interview process, I was hugely impressed by the caliber of the people, the company culture and verified that the software was indeed as revolutionary as I suspected.

From a technology perspective I see the value of:

  1. A “fresh sheet of paper” software written to take advantage of a modern higher-level language provides the ability to parameterize everything providing finer toolpath control, embedded optimization loops, automation of tedious error prone tasks and elegant interfaces to other enterprise software (i.e. CAD, PDM, MES).
  2. Dyndrite’s Accelerated Computation Engine (ACE) is multi-threaded and GPU-accelerated, facilitating the rapid processing of large complex parts for advanced LPBF machines with huge build volumes and many lasers.
  3. LPBF Pro Software is packaged as a single all-inclusive solution, avoiding the hassles and unfairness of constantly having to buy add-on modules for  new features.  Licensing is 100% lease subscriptions and based on end-user usage. This makes buying, renewing and administering licenses straightforward and ensures the customer receives ROI each and every year.

On a more personal level, I am a devoted husband and proud parent to three wonderful children and a small herd of animals. My hobbies include skiing (water and snow), gardening and restoring old homes.

I am excited to engage with innovative customers to streamline their LPBF workflows and increase machine throughput, all while improving the quality and repeatability of the complex parts they produce.
